| How are you? | Tudo bem? Common greeting; reply with “Tudo bem.” |
| What is your name? | Como você se chama? Also said: “Qual é o seu nome?” |
| My name is... | Meu nome é... You can also say “Eu me chamo...” |
| Do you speak English? | Você fala inglês? To say a little: “Falo um pouco.” |
| I don't understand | Não entendo You can also say “Não entendi.” |
| Where is the bathroom? | Onde fica o banheiro? Banheiro means restroom. |
| Where is...? | Onde fica...? Add the place after “fica.” |
| I would like... | Eu gostaria de... Polite way to order food or drinks. |
| Menu, please | O cardápio, por favor “Cardápio” is the Brazilian word for menu. |
| The check, please | A conta, por favor A 10% service charge may be included. |
| Water, please | Água, por favor Sem gás = still; com gás = sparkling. |
